Absentee Bid Policy

It is always preferable for the buyer to personally inspect items prior to bidding on the items. However, Aardvark Auctions is aware that there are times when an interested buyer is unable to attend an auction and that it is in the best interests of our sellers to provide for absentee bids. Therefore, we accommodate absentee bidders in accordance with the following policy:


All items are sold as is and all sales are final. The successful absentee bid is regarded as a binding contract. Aardvark Auctions will describe items to the best of our ability. The absentee buyer is not free to negate the sale by virtue of disagreement as to the condition or description of the item.

Absentee bids must be significant. Absentee bids less than $100 for any item will not be considered. Even though an absentee bid may be in excess of $100, it may still be regarded as trivial for the given item and may not be considered. Increments of less than $25 will not be considered and we do not allow absentee bids to reduce bidding increments.

Preference is always given to bidders who attend the auction. Aardvark Auctions reserves the right not to execute any absentee bid.

Costs for mailing, insurance and handling will be assessed to the successful absentee bidder. Payment for the amount of the purchases, any mailing and insurance costs and a handling fee must be received prior to delivery of the item to the absentee buyer. The handling fee will be $10 for items with a purchase price of up to and including $200. For items with a purchase price of more than $200, the handling fee will be 5% of the total purchases, excluding any mailing and insurance costs. When payment is made by check, the item(s) purchased will not be delivered to the buyer until the check has been honored by the buyer’s bank.

To submit an absentee bid, download a pdf of the Absentee Bid Agreement form that must be filled out in its entirety, signed, and returned by fax or regular mail so that it will be received at least 24 hours prior to auction start time.
